Cloverdale Performing Arts Center is proud to present the Santa Rosa Symphony Young People’s Chamber Orchestra, with special guest Eric Dahlen, cellist from the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. These talented young musicians will amaze you with their musicianship, poise, and high level of performance. This is an especially great concert for young people with an interest in music. This is your chance to sample wines from the barrel, talk to winemakers and explore the beautiful Alexander, Dry Creek and Russian River Valleys. Barrel Tasting is not a food pairing or themed event. It’s all about the WINE…many wineries offer “futures” on their barrel samples. This is a chance to purchase wine now, often at a discount, then come back to the winery when the wine is bottled, typically 12-18 months from now. Many wines are so limited, buying futures is your only chance to purchase them. On March 9th at 7pm, Matthew Specktor will read from his recent novel American Dream Machine and will discuss all things Hollywood. Matthew is also the author of the novel That Summertime Sound, as well as a nonfiction book of film criticism. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, Harper’s, The Paris Review, GQ, Tin House, and numerous other periodicals and anthologies. He is a founding editor of The Los Angeles Review of Books. A former film executive at 20th Century Fox (Fight Club) and Jersey Films (Pulp Fiction, Out of Sight, Erin Brockovich), he is presently adapting American Dream Machine into a cable series for FX network “Books on Stage” will take place on Thursday, March 9th at 7 p.m. at the Cloverdale Performing Arts Center, 209 N. Cloverdale Blvd. The event will be followed by wine, cheese and conversation with the author at Plank Coffee, just up the street from the theater. There is a $10 suggested donation, but no one turned away for lack of funds.

Cloverdale Performing Arts Center is thrilled to present Katharine Gunnink, an immensely talented soprano who has made a specialty of some of opera’s most demanding roles. Born and raised in Cloverdale, Ms. Gunnink is now performing to critical acclaim in the U.S. and abroad. Her portrayal of the Countess from Mozart’s “La Nozze di Figaro” at Operafestival in Rome had Italian critics praising her “beautiful voice and interpretation of the character.” Ms. Gunnink has performed at Center Stage Opera in Los Angeles, Winter Opera St. Louis, and Utah Festival Opera.
